Broken boiler? Replace it fast

No heating or hot water and the boiler is past saving? Get a fixed price now and book an installation date from tomorrow.

Smell gas? Stop. Do not use switches or flames. Open doors and windows, turn off the gas at the meter if you can, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

First, a few safe checks

  • Check the boiler has power and the timer or thermostat is calling for heat
  • Look at the pressure gauge. Most boilers need around 1 to 1.5 bar when cold
  • Check your gas supply is on, for example that the hob works or your meter has credit
  • In freezing weather, a frozen condensate pipe outside is a common cause
  • Write down any fault code on the display

Do not take the boiler casing off. Anything inside the boiler must be handled by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

When replacing makes more sense

  • The boiler is more than 10 to 15 years old
  • It has broken down more than once recently
  • The repair needs an expensive part, or parts are hard to get
  • Your engineer has said the boiler is unsafe and cannot be repaired

Questions

Can you replace my boiler tomorrow?

The quote tool lets you choose any date from tomorrow. We call to confirm the date and arrival time, and we will tell you straight away if we cannot make the day you picked.

Should I repair or replace my boiler?

If the boiler is fairly new and the fault is simple, a repair usually makes sense. If it is old, has broken down before, or needs an expensive part, replacing it is often better value. Southwark Heating does emergency heating call-outs if you want it looked at first.

Do I need to be in for the installation?

Yes, someone aged 18 or over needs to be at home to let us in and to be shown how the new boiler and controls work.
